Lebanon

Beirut was once described as the Paris of the Middle East, renowned for its culture. Lebanon itself was a founding member of the UN and the country boasts the oldest inhabited city in the world. Now it is part of a failing state, a state where 1/3 of the population live beneath the poverty line, where there is 25% unemployment and 50% inflation. This has resulted in large numbers of people leaving the country, fleeing to all parts of the world. This reconstructed map aims to communicate both the failing state and the diaspora.
